Keep a lease renewal connected to the agreement before it

3 March 2026 · 6 min read

Leases · Renewals · Rent changes

A renewal may change the term, rent, deposit treatment, notice period or other obligations. Do not overwrite the earlier lease record to make the current terms easier to display.

Create a connected record with the effective date and the document actually accepted by the parties. Distinguish a proposed change from an agreed one, and keep payment records for any deposit adjustment attached to the relevant period.

Before relying on an email exchange or in-app confirmation as a renewal, check the form and notice requirements that apply in the property’s jurisdiction. Some changes require a particular document, signature or notice period.

Tensu can keep the sequence of records organized. It does not draft the agreement, validate a rent increase or determine whether a renewal is legally effective.
